Sure, convertible bridesmaid dresses can seem to offer it all – you only have to choose a color and designer and each of your bridesmaid can take the same dress and wear it in dozens of styles! Plus, they are so comfortable, they can be worn again, blah, blah… so everything is good, right?
We feel that it is our duty to post a note of caution about convertible bridesmaid dresses. Though they do allow bridesmaids to choose between different styles, many of them have no built-in cups and require you to wear no bra (because the back is so low). Result is jersey fabric on bra-less fronts and/or misshappen boobage. Even the catalogue pictures show that the dress is less-than-flattering to the front of many women:
And we’re not alone. The following brave souls have also spoken out about the dangers of convertible dresses:

So what’s a bride to do? If you want to give your bridesmaids choices, another option is to go for separates (e.g. different tops to match different skirts) or simply choose a color and let your bridesmaids pick the style. If you insist on the convertible dresses anyways, at least get a matching bandeau.
