Wedding Showers are all about honoring the couple and spoiling them gifts for their new life together. But one major detail that isn’t necessarily for the couple are the shower favors.
Many folks like to thank bridal shower guests for their time and contribution, and you can do that with favors. We love favors that are well thought out and come from the heart – but that doesn’t mean they need to be expensive or time consuming.
One of our favorite favor ideas are mason jars filled with a scrumptious cookie recipe. Maybe it is Grandma Betty’s famous peanut butter cookie recipe, or Mom’s celebrated chocolate chip cookies. Whatever the special concoction is, all you need to do it jar up the dry ingredients! Next add some cloth, attach your recipe, and tie with a ribbon. There you have it…the personalized favor, from the heart, that in some way can honor the happy couple.
* Remember to layer dry ingredients, and pack into jar after each layer.
We used the biggest mason jars we could find, which was a quart, and packed it with all the dry ingredients of the following recipe:
- 1 1/3 cup flour
- 1 tspn baking powder
- 1 tspn baking soda
- 1/4 tspn salt
- 1 cup quick cooking oats
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
Layer ingredients according to the order above. And the only ingredients left to make those delish treats are:
- 1 egg
- 1 stick of softened butter
- 1 tspn of vanilla extract
And the best part of this whole favor business? THE COOKIES! Happy baking BridesmaidTrade readers!
