Why We Love the Maxi Dress

Thanks to Lauren Zelman and her fabulous dress choice for her famous bridesmaids, those of us who fear short, clingy dresses you can neither sit nor dance in (and who wants to stand around the whole time at a wedding, come on now) have found a reprieve.  We think the maxi dress is back, and we couldn’t be happier.  As Brides.com reported, one of these lovely dresses could be yours for the very affordable price of around $1500.  WOW!  What?!? OK.

Like the look but would rather take a nice staycation,  pay a couple month’s rent or buy a giant book you’ll loathe for that grad school class?  Us too.  While it’s still a little on the pricy side, we think J.Crew’s Evie dress would make a beautiful bridesmaid dress.  We’d channel our inner Aphrodite for sure.  And maybe it’s just us, but we’re pretty sure that shades of grey – slate, charcoal, platinum, etc. – are going to be the next big teal.  This is one is in graphite.  You can thank us later, trendsetter!

We’d be remiss not to tell you that we’ve got a beautiful maxi dress for sale on Bridesmaid Trade if you’re looking to mix and match or if you just want to get your inner elegant on.  Very similar to J.Crew’s Evie dress is the Taryn dress, in gorgeous Black Plum, for just $95:

What do you think?  Is the maxi dress style to the max or too much for your taste?
